Perjalanan gelaran Herbalife Bali International Triahtlon mendapatkan sambutan yang cukup positif dari pecinta triathlon di tanah air. Hal tersebut dibuktikan, pada 2019 ini komposisi peserta dari Indonesia sebanyak 80%. Dibanding saat tahun-tahun pertama event ini diselengarakan yang masih didominasi oleh triathlit dari luar negeri. Sementara untuk tahun 2019, peserta Herbalife Bali International Triahtlon diikuti oleh triathlit dari 29 negara termasuk Indonesia.
“Animo penggemar olahraga tritahlon di tanah air pada gelaran Herbalife Bali International Triahtlon 2019 ini menunjukkan tren yang positif. 2.250 peserta akan mengikuti ajang olahraga internasional yang akan melombakan tiga kategori ini yaitu; Olympic Distance Course (Renang 1,5 kilometer, Sepeda 40 kilometer, Lari 10 kilometer), Sprint Distance Course (Renang 500 meter, Sepeda 20 kilometer, Lari 5 kilometer) dan 5K Fun Run. Ferry Surya menambahkan, keamanan dan kenyamanan peserta tetap menjadi prioritas pada penyelenggaraan Herbalife Bali International Triathlon 2019 ini. For the second consecutive year, Herbalife Indonesia is the title sponsor for this event that combines swimming, cycling and running over both an Olypmic distance and shorter Srpint Distance course.
On Thursday July 21, 2016, a press conference for the Herbalife Bali International Triathlon held in Jakarta. On hand to answer questions from the media were the Sports Manager Herbalife Bali International Triathlon 2016, Panji Buana; Country General Manager Herbalife Indonesia, Andam Dewi; Head of Corporate Communications for Bank Mandiri, Ahmad Reza; professional model and triathlon athlete Kelly Tandiono; and the Ambassador of the Herbalife Bali International Triathlon and Vice Chairman or Indonesian Triathlon Federation (FTI) Richard Sam Bera.
“This is the ninth year we have supported Bali International Triathlon, and the second year we act as title sponsor,” said Country General Manager for Herbalife Indonesia, Andam Dewi. “After witnessing the tight competition and athlete enthusiasm every year over the past nine years, we believe that this year’s competition will attract a record number of fans and participats from around the world.”
Andam Dewi used the occasion to underline the relationship between good nutrition and sporting performance. “Athletes need a lot of energy. Athlete also need supplemental nutrition to perform optimally.” Continuing, Andam said that athletes joining a triathlon require top stamina and that Herbalife provides a balanced nutrition fulfilling daily needs, from carbohydrates, proteins, minerals and vitamins. For From year to year, the number of participants have steadily increased, from 150 participants at the first race in 2007 to more than 1,200 participants in 2015. Sports Manager for the 2016 Herbalife Bali International Triathlon, Panji Buana, stated not only have the number of participants increased each year, but the number of Indonesian athletes now dominate entires.

Former Olympic Athlete and FTI official, Richard Sam Bera told the press that sports in general and Triathlons in general have become part of the Nation’s lifestyle and, in the process, improved the quality of daily life. Sam Bera has joined the HBIT in every year since its inauguration. Adding, Bali’s beautiful scenery is just one of the reasons he participates every year.
“This year, we are moving to a new venue, Sanur. Since the announcement, I have been excited,” Sam Bera commented. The contours of Sanur, in his opinion, are flatter and more attractive for triathlon beginners. “The change in scenery is very interesting. After eight years in Jimbaran, we now have a new view, as Sanur is world renowned for its beauty.”
In agreement with Sam Bera, Kelly Tandiono stated her eagerness to join the Herbalife Bali International Triathlon. Tandiono said she loves sports and has enjoyed swimming, cycling and running since an early age.

Sanur, 11 July 2016… The 9th Herbalife International Triathlon on Sunday, August 14, 2016, while hosting individual and relay teams undertaking the challenging Olympic and Sprint Distance events that entail swimming, cycling and running – will also include a colorful and entertaining 5-km Fun Run as part of its race day festivities.
Flagged off at 7:00 am from a starting point on Mertasari Beach, the 5km race has proven in past editions to be a big hit among local resident and Island visitors opting for a more relaxed approach to a morning run than the highly competitive triathlon events held on the same day.

Sanur, 8 June 2016…The Herbalife Bali International Triathlon (HBIT) returns August 14, 2016, for its 9th running headquartered in a new location in Bali’s fabled community of Sanur Beach.
Triathlon participation combines swimming, cycling and a foot race – demanding a total commitment to be mentally, physically and nutritionally prepared for the extreme rigours of a 1.5 kilometer swim, a 40 kilometer cycle and 10 kilometer run – all done in rapid succession. To help prepare past Bali International Triathlon participants and encourage new entrants, events organizers in cooperation with Herbalife Indonesia have conducted a series of briefings covering training tips on how to maximise conditioning and the stamina required for top-level competition.
During a mid-May briefing held in Jakarta, former Indonesian Olympian swimmer Richard Sam Bera shared his views on the growing popularity of triathlons in Indonesia, providing details of the important work performed by the Indonesian Triathlon Federation. At the same event, Wisnu Wardhana, founder of JAQuatics Indonesia, shared winning training and competitive strategies for swimmers.
Leading the briefing was Chaidir Akbar of Triathlon Buddies – a nationwide organization of triathletes, who shared with the audience his experience of participating in two Bali International Triathlons and the winning lessons learned from the experience.
Nutritional experts from Herbalife Indonesia were also on hand to provide insights and strategies proper menu planning for those joining a triathlon event.
After the Jakarta briefing, the Herbalife Bali International Triathlon team traveled to Yogyakarta in late May to attend the AUDAX cycling race where they introduced the Bali event to many interested athletes.
Describing the need for systematic planning and training to achieve a winning performance, Richard Sam Bera, emphasized that proper preparation is essential to achieve peak performance for those competing in three demanding sporting activities of a triathlon: swimming, cycling and running.
The 2016 Herbalife Bali International Triathlon and related 5-kilometer fun run are targeted to attract 1,500 athletes from some 30 countries. The award-winning Bali event and the first Olympic-distance triathlon to be held in Indonesia reflects the special spirituality of the Island of Bali earning the international reputation as “the triathlon with a soul.”
The move from Jimbaran to the traditional seaside village of Sanur was done by the event’s organizers to accommodate the steadily growing number of participants and build on the festive atmosphere of the Sanur Village Festival held each August.
In its new locale, Olympic Distance competitors will enjoy a 1.5 kilometer ocean swim in the tranquil waters off Sanur’s Mertasari Beach; a 40-kilometer cycle past rice fields and ancient Balinese villages; and a 10-kilometer foot race run down the streets of Sanur and Denpasar. A sprint distance category covering half the distance of the Olympic event will also be held.
Relay participation is also open to mixed teams participating in both the Olympic and Sprint Distance races.
Forming a part of the event since its inception, a 5-kilometer fun run will also be held that will attract hundreds vying to win valuable prices and lucky draws.

HBIT Road Shows Across Indonesia

The April road shows and warming up sessions continued through into May were held in Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali.
Kicking off in Jakarta, the HBIT met with Tribuddies Community – a well known group of dedicated amateur triathletes. The team continued the journey to Surabaya for a get together with the local branch of Hash House Harriers (ASRI), Happy Runner, and Runners Surabaya chapter. While in the capital of East Java, HBIT also held an educational briefing with Surabaya’s triathlon community on the new routes being introduced in 2016 and obtain valuable nutritional tips from Herbalife – the title sponsor for the Bali International Triathlon.
In late April, the HBIT team traveled to Bangka to attend the Sungai Liat Bangka Triathlon event and then to Central Java for the Sri Tex Run in Solo.
Building the hype closer to home, the HBIT team visited local tourism schools students, at Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata (STP) in Nusa Dua and STP Bali International (STP BI) to brief students on the triathlon event and to seek people to sign up both as participants and volunteers.
During the first week of May, the HBIT team traveled again to Surabaya to join the Car Free Day at Raya Darmo, where Herbalife conducted consultation sessions on sports nutrition.
To establish their role as international sports event that elevates the tourism industry in Bali, HBIT conducted their annual presentation to the Bali Hotels Association (BHA) – a group comprised of the general managers of Bali’s starred hotels and a loyal supporter of the Bali Triathlon from its very inception.
HBIT Forms Alliance with Sanur Village
In early April, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by IB Gede Sidharta Putra, Chairman of the Sanur Development Foundation (YPS) and Arie Sukirno on behalf of HBIT. This agreement formalized support from the traditional Balinese community of Sanur for the coming triathlon and secured the event’s role as a prelude to the opening of the 2016 Sanur Village Festival that will take place August 24-28, 2016, ten days after the race. A short time after the signing of the MoU, an initial coordination meeting was held between the organizers of the HBIT, representatives of YPS, officials from the Bali Government Tourism office, South Denpasar district officials (Kecamatan), Sanur village chiefs and the traditional head of the Sanur region (Bendesa Adat).
The HBIT and YPS also paid a joint call on the Mayor of Denpasar to obtain his support for the HBIT in its new Denpasar location in the traditional village of Sanur.
Commenting on the new alliance with HBIT and the meetings to prepare for the coming Sanur-based triathlon, IB Gede Sidharta Putra, as chairman of the YPS said: “Set right in midsummer and in the heart of Bali, these activities are aimed to prepare the upcoming Triathlon Festival to be followed by Sanur Village Festival. With international sports and cultural events happening in Sanur, we hope to bring more attention to both the participants and the spectators. Sanur is a great area to enjoy a weekend for the fun on the beach, musical entertainment, great restaurants and other local attractions.”

Change of venue for Bali International Triathlon 2016

Head of Bali Police, Police Inspector General Pol Drs Sugeng Priyanto SH, MA together with other heads of directorate from traffic bureau, intel bureau and operations bureau officially received the team from Bali Discovery Events (BDE) whom presented plans for the upcoming 9th Bali International Triathlon (BIT) set for Sunday, August 14, 2016 in its new venue, Sanur. The new venue is expected to accommodate more participants, generate greater promotion and attract more visitors.
The BDE team was represented by Arie S. Sukirno and M. Fathur Rozi, and they were accompanied by representatives from Yayasan Pembangunan Sanur (YPS), I.B. Gede Sidharta Putra as chairman and Wisnu Diwangkara as the general coordinator for the Sanur Village Festival (SVF). The BIT event will be held in conjunction with the annual 11th Sanur Village Festival, from 24-28 August at Maisonette Area Inna Grand Bali Beach.
During the audience, BDT team provided a detailed mapping of the new 2016 BIT venue at Mertasari beach area in Sanur. BDT assured the Bali Police force that a feasibility study for the BIT has been done for Sanur area and the result shows that it support an international class event such as the triathlon.
One of the points raised was the cycling route on Bypass Ngurah Rai and Bypass IB. Mantra, where BDT requested the Bali Police force to provide extra security and provide permission to close one side of the Bypass road, on the East and South side, during the event date.
Bapak I.B. Gede Sidharta, better known as Gusde, from YPS explained briefly about the Sanur Village Festival (SVF) event and how pleased he was that for this year, the BIT 2016 will become the official opening for SVF event. This will add a new element in the festival, aside from culture, art and creativity, which is international sports. He also mentioned that major events such as SVF and BIT are important for Bali’s tourism to attract visitors local, national and international to Bali.
The Head of Bali Police welcomed SVF and BIT events and ensured his commitment to fully support it. Further coordination with other bureaus will be necessary for security matters as many foreigners will be joining this event in an open and public area. Based on later conditions, if deemed necessary, the police force will deploy a fully armed Brimob personnel to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators.

The Bali International Triathlon (BIT) will return for its ninth year on Sunday, August 14th 2016. Bali International Triathlon has also announced a change of venue is on the way for BIT 2016 from Jimbaran to Sanur. Full details will be announced in February with the title sponsor, which previously was Herbalife for the 2013 and 2015 race, and a new course that is ‘steeped in Balinese culture, striking landscapes and history.
The race unveils a new venue set in one of the most spectacular locations in scenic Sanur. 2016 looks set to the see the event take a leap into becoming of the largest regional triathlons with the event’s new route and tie in with the annual community event Sanur Village Festival (SVF) which will be held from 24 – 28 August 2016.
